As a Des Moines Wedding Photographer I loved this wedding so much. Celebrating their two families and cultures was beautiful. First we took some photos on top of the famous Des Moines parking garage with the Travlers sign in the background. The day was fantastic for an outdoor ceremony at the Shattering Silence Memorial. With the mix of the mariachi band during the ceremony and the traditional Lao band during some of the dance. I thought the blend was lovely to honor both of their families. There were some wonderful moments of Roxana’s dad dancing with his daughters. Roxana & Derek’s 2 Pomeranians also played a part as the ring bearers during the ceremony complete with adorable doggie tuxedoes.
Both families helped prepare all the amazing and wonderful foods. One of my favorite photos as a Des Moines Wedding Photographer, from this day is the pictures from their BBops stop. BBops is one of their special and favorite places that holds a lot of meaning for them. After, we all went to the Scottish Rite Center for their reception. It was fantastic! So much amazing dancing, they were such a great dance crowd. Some of my favorite photos were of Roxana dancing with her dad.
It was such a fun packed day. I could not have done it without such a fantastic great vendor team. I have to give a special shout out to my second photographer Andraya Stender. Hiring a competent but also wonderful second photographer is always key. I also got to work for the first time with Videographer Morgan at @bitter_fruitt. They made such a great vendor team. I always say when you work with a good team its always like a dance itself. Being able to work around each other and respect what the other vendor needs to do to get their work done. This was a great testament to that.
